Bill Gates Is Once Again the Richest Person in the World

The list of the richest people in the world is out, and it’s no surprise that once again Bill Gates claimed the number one spot. Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates is richest person in the world and once again he has managed to come out on top, with a mind-boggling net worth of $87.4 billion.

Gates came in as the richest person in the world at $87.4 billion, after accounting for factors like performance of his investments and taxes etc.

Here are some other distinguished people who landed in the list of top 10 richest person in the world:

1. Warren Buffet ( with net assets of around $61 billion),
2. Koch brothers (around $47 billion each)
3. Jeff Bezos (around 57 billion)
4. Mark Zuckerberg (around $43 billion)
5. Larry Ellison (around $43 billion)
6. Michael Bloomberg (around $42 billion)

Unfortunately, another renowned affluent American, Donald Trump, couldn’t crack the list of world’s top 50 richest people. Apparently to bag a seat on “richest person in the world” train, you need to have assets totaling no less than $14.3 billion to meet the criteria.

Our Advice to Trump: Don’t feel bad. We couldn’t make it on the list, either.

Recently Wealth-X shared its latest numbers on the assets of the super-rich. They collected information on over 110,000 super-high-net-worth people to find the richest person in the world. They track each person’s assets and adjust it to account for local taxes, currency-exchange rates, savings rates, investment performance, and few other factors.

Gates thumped the second place holder, Spain’s Amancio Ortega, by roughly $20 billion. Ortega is the founding chairman of Inditex, aclothing retailer. Ortega hanged at an impressive net worth of $66.8 billion (nevertheless we’ll seek for his forgivness, coz we are not feeling more sympathetic).

Other distinguished placeholders on the list were: Michael Bloomberg Potential presidential candidate, with a net worth of $42 billion, Bloomberg ranked as the 9th richest person in the world, Walmart heiress, Alice Walton is the richest woman, with overall net worth of $33.2 billion, and she ranked at 15^th position on the list.

Liliane Bettencourt, L’Oreal heiress was the next female on the list. She sat just below Alice Walton with a net worth of $29 billion, Bettencourt got 17^th position on the list. The only other woman who made it to the top 50 is the widow of the late Steve Jobs, Laurene Powell Jobs; she tied at 47th position with a net worth of $14.4 billion.
