When you watch shows on TV about people breaking world records, you might hold your breath and let free a couple wheezes, however the entire situation is constantly safe and clear. What you don’t see on these shows and read in these magazines is the shady side of breaking world records. For every man or woman who has set another shocking record, there are few people who have just not been as fortunate, and with heartbreaking consequences.
Here are few people who died while attempting to break world records.
Haris Suleman
Died on July 23, 2014 while attempting to become the youngest person to fly around the world over in 30 days
17-year-old Indian Haris Suleman was endeavoring to fly around the world in 30 days in 2014, in an offer to break the record for the youngest person in the world to do so in such a short time. The plane crashed soon after leaving Pago Pago in American Samoa though, killing both Haris and his father.
Sailendra Nath Roy
Died on 28th April 2013, while attempting to break his own world record of the longest distance travelled on a zip wire using his hair.
Indian stuntman and daredevil Sailendra Nath Roy was endeavoring to break the Guinness world record for the farthest distance travelled on a zip wire using his hair in 2013. He suffered from heart failure, at Teesta River in Darjeeling. His ponytail became stuck in the wheeler of the rope halfway through the stunt and he was left hanging in midair for about 25 minutes. He was 49 years old.
Jessica Dubroff
Died trying to become the youngest person to fly across the US.
Jessica Whitney Dubroff was a seven-year-old pilot trainee who aimed to set the record to turn out to be the youngest person to fly light utility aircraft across the United States. In 1996, she was accompanied by her flight instructor and her father, and when they tried to take off awful climate, the plane flipped and slammed, killing all three passengers.
Janaka Basnayake
Died attempting to set record for longest time buried alive.
24-year-old Janaka Basnayake of Sri Lanka wanted to set the record for being buried alive. He was placed in a 10 feet deep hole, and his body was covered with wood and soil on a Saturday morning at 9:30 AM. he was brought to the surface at 4 p.m, he was unconscious upon excavation, he was was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead soon after.
Nicholas Mevoli
Died trying to break the record for deepest dive without fins.
Nicholas Mevoli, 32, an American freediver who was endeavoring to break the record of 71 meters for deepest dive without fins at the Vertical Blue competition at Dean’s Blue Hole in the Bahamas. The world record is a 101 meters. After hitting 72 meters, he surfaced and even signaled he was alright. However, because of some pressure problems on his lungs, blood began pouring from his mouth, and he passed on a couple of hours after the fact.
Juan Francisco Guillermo
Passed on attempting to set the record for cycling around the world.
Juan Francisco Guillermo was a Chilean cyclist who was attempting to cycle 250,000km around five continents in five years to set a world record. On the last extend of his 5 year goal, a truck on a highway in Nakhon Ratchasima region hit him, and he was killed instantly.
Diana Paris
Passed on while attempting to break a skydiving record.
Diana Paris, 46, a German sky diver who was part of a 222 person group endeavoring to break a world record for the largest number of people to finish two aerial formations before deploying their parachutes. but, she was killed when her main parachute malfunctioned and failed to completely open amid one of the attempts.
Guy Garman/ Doc Deep
Died trying to break the record for deepest recreational scuba dive.
Guy “Rusty” Garman, also known as moniker Doc Deep, was a physician and scuba diver who died during an attempt to set a world record for a recreational scuba dive of 1,200 feet om 15th August 2015. However, after diving in a certain depth, he didn’t return up, and the body was recuperated some time later. He was in his late 50s.
Javad Palizbanian
Died trying to break the record for longest jump on a motorcycle.
44-year-old Iranian daredevil tried to break the world record for long distance jumps on a motorcycle in 2005. He tried jumping over 22 buses parked side by side, a distance of around 209 feet, but crashed into the 13th bus, which killed him right away.
Lowell Bayles
Died while trying to break the world speed record.
Lowell was a celebrated American air race and stunt pilot. In the 1931 National Air Races, he endeavored and accomplished in breaking the world speed record by going 300 MPH and won Thompson Trophy by flying the Gee Bee Model Z. Bayles. Though, in an unexpected accident, the plane’s fuel cap came free, flew through the windshield and struck Bayles in the head and thumped him out. The plane smashed and he was professed dead at the scene
